Crankshaft Oil Seal Kit (948 / 1098 Engines)
Crankshaft Oil Seal Kit (948 / 1098 Engines)
This is an aftermarket conversion kit in order to install a lip seal on the rear of the engine which would have had a scroll seal from the factory. This is an intermediate job, so if you are unfamiliar, please make sure to get help for a proper installation. If this kit is installed improperly, the engine can leak more oil than previously, so make sure to get help if you're not comfortable installing this. Instructions are included.
PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING: If you are buying this kit for a 1098 engine, there are two different styles of 1098 engine and each one uses a different style of kit. There are several different ways to tell which 1098 engine you have: if your engine tag is still present (RH side of the head over the top of the front spark plug) then you can look at it and tell pretty quickly by the first four digits: 10CG means the 948 kit will work. 10CC means you'll need the 10CC-specific kit.
If your engine does not have the ID tag present, you will need to measure the OD of your crankshaft flange. A 10CG engine will have the same flange as a 948, measuring at approximately 3.25" OD. A 10CC engine will have a larger flange, measuring in at approximately 3.50" OD. The kits are completely different for these two engines, so make sure you get the right one!

Note: The aluminum disk shown comes apart into two pieces for installation around the crankshaft.
If you have a 1275, you need the kit found here.
