We have a fit seveal hundred Bugeye sprite convertible tops in our building and we've tried lots of different options in order to find the easiest product for our customers to install themselves. After much trial and error I am happy to report that the top that you see here is the finest you can buy for your Spridget.
There are several reasons:
First, it's an excellent pattern that fits the framework beautifully. Fewer wrinkles, tighter finish, quieter ride.
Second, it’s made of a very supple material that stretches easily to conform to the unique shape of every one of these unique cockpits
And third, it's a very high grade of material that adds an elegant look to your nice little car. This is the material you’ll find on Porsches and Mercedes convertibles, and it will give your Sprite a much more finished look.
Fourth, it is much more stable than the vinyl tops you usually see, which are quite vulnerable to shrinkage.
For all these reasons, this is the top we recommend. It will last longer, hold its shape better and will be easier to install for the lifetime of the top. It's a little bit pricier than other options. But you're only going to buy one convertible top and it's probably going to last you the next 10 to 20 years... so I strongly encourage you to go for it. There are other less expensive tops out there and we've tried them al. If you go with a vinyl top, you’ll likely find that you can wrestle them onto your car as long as the sun is glaringly hot, but on anything less than a 55° day, your fingertips will be screaming as you try to stretch the noncompliant vinyl over the fittings that are on the car (and nobody wants to have to do that especially if a shower pops up while you're on the side of the road.) So I hope you'll purchase one of these tops- you won't regret it, especially the first time you have to put the top on your car on a cold day!
