The original drum brake Swivel axles are a common failure point at this point on Bugeyes. Here's a couple examples of overly-worn swivel-axles:
We offer this complete kit to replace your worn swivel axles and convert your front Sprite Drum Brakes to the later factory Disc Brakes!
This complete and ready-to-assemble kit features all new parts including new swivel axles, king pins, new single piston calipers, new tapered bearings, new hubs, and much much more! This kit comes with rubber brake hoses, but you can purchase stainless steel brake hoses if you would rather by going to our brake hose kit page.
Looking for even more performance from your new disc brakes? You can upgrade this kit to upgraded pads with drilled and slotted brake rotors in the drop down menu for an additional charge.
You can use your stock 7/8 master cylinder with this kit or upgrade to our 3/4 master.
**Please allow roughly a week for shipping, a lot of love goes into pre-assembly of these kits and they are made to order**
Now available for wire-wheel-equipped Bugeyes! Both coarse thread and fine thread hubs are available. Coarse thread are 8 threads per inch; fine thread are 12 threads per inch. Be sure to select the proper option in the drop-down menu for the threads your car has!

If you would like to learn about increasing stopping power, we have an article here.
Install note: When installed properly, the calipers will be on the REAR side of the hub, we have included a picture below.
Install note 2: It is sometimes necessary to remove the anti-squeal backing from the brake pads to get them to fit.
Intstall note 3: The tin backing plates may need to be trimmed in order to clear the caliper at their corners.
INSTALL NOTE REGARDING TAPERED WHEEL BEARINGS: See photo gallery for the correct orientation of the wheel bearing kit and the location of the shims. Not every bearing kit will use all of the included shims.
WHEEL BEARING INSTALL NOTE 2: There is a known fitment issue with the long center tapered spacer in relation to the front bearing if using a new spacer. The instructions included with the bearing kit notes this fitment issue, as well. The front lip of the tapered spacer may need to have a radius ground into it in order to fit inside the inner race of the outer wheel bearing.
INSTALLATION NOTE: Make sure the trunnion at the top of the swivel axle is installed in the proper direction! Click photo below for more info!
