Austin Healey Sprite Engine Valve Cover ID Plate Kit (948-1275 Engines)

To make your stock valve cover wonderful, you need two new ID plates. The Austin and Patent plates, when properly installed, add a great finishing touch to any engine bay. These are the correct metal plates, the same ones we used on our gold concours Bugeye.

This kit also comes with four blind rivets so you can properly affix the plates to your valve cover. Some people use pop rivets and seal the hole in the center of the rivet, which works, but the correct blind rivets look best. The blind rivets require an arbor press or similar to crush them and properly affix the plates just like they did in the factory.

In the photos below you can see the mint green original valve cover from "Gumby," a modified 1275. On this car, we used the mint green from later sprites with the original plates as shown. 948 engines would have come in darker olive drab with these same plates.
