Remove the chrome trim rings and the glass lifts out of the rubber socket easily. To install the tail lights, remove the lens and then remove the chrome tail light base assembly. For the remaining two terminals,  one is power, the other is switched, connect those to the side terminals. The reason why? Because our slave is designed with the installer in mind! Traditionally, it is difficult to remove the upper mounting bolt due to the slave mount on the bell housing being very close to the body of the car. Trying to get a wrench on the upper bolt can be challenging, and the narrow work arear gets smaller as the bolt unscrews. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOur modified slave cylinder allows you to simply loosen the top bolt then slide the slave cylinder into position under the bolt without having to remove the bolt completely from the bell housing. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis is the best slave cylinder we can get on the market (Lockheed brand), made better by our modifications! We opt to only use premium hydraulic components because they last longer than the cheap alternatives that are available. After more than 500 cars through our building, we've learned that it is \u003cb\u003enot worth it\u003c\/b\u003e to use a cheaper product and have to \u003cb\u003edo the job a second time\u003c\/b\u003e. We know this from experience, the cheaper available slave cylinders are junk. I, personally, would pay any amount of money to not have to do this job twice. I have been on my back on a creeper with hydraulic fluid running into my armpit too many times and if I can pay a little more and ensure my slave cylinder will last longer, I will do that any day of the week and I suggest you do so too! \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cb\u003eINSTALLATION NOTE 1: The bleeder screw on the slave can sometimes come from the supplier with the bleeder screw in the forward-facing hole on the slave. This is done for shipping purposes, but is incorrect for installation, as the bleeder needs to be in the top hole to allow the air to be bled from the clutch hydraulic system properly! We generally try to swap it to the correct hole before we ship it, but sometimes we don't catch it. Even after a good flushing, the capillary tubes are usually somewhat coated with deposits and so they don't cool like they did when they were new. Air inside original Sprite cooling systems (unlike sealed modern designs) contributes to corrosion and reduced efficiency. Aluminum radiators work better because they offer superior heat transfer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou'll notice we are not huge fans of electric cooling fans. We have found these to be wonderful for slow speed parades or in traffic but in most cases, they seem to block air flow at speed and REDUCE radiator efficiency. We feel that the best line of defense is the best radiator with an upgraded engine driven fan.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYour Sprite operating temp should run at about 180 degrees (or less). It may climb to 200 in traffic, sometimes a little more. We have also found the most of these gaskets are also too wide to fit down into the trough in the body of the car.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe got tired of modifying poorly fitting gaskets and instead came up with a new alternative… this cowl gasket is spongy and fills the factory trough under the back flange of the nose. Unless you are going for concours gold, this is an excellent alternative to the gasket you will find out there, which we generally remove and throw away when it comes into our shop on cars, because it usually does more harm than good.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis new gasket fits the channel in the body properly and will support that back edge of your nose quite nicely. If you have the stock mechanical pump, this can take a lot of cranking, and can kill your battery. Original mechanical fuel pumps have a priming lever, but new replacements do not. We much prefer the electric pump, which primes instantly and saves battery power for cranking the cold engine.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe other big issue with mechanical pumps has to do with diaphragm failure, which we see often, and can result in fuel pouring out of the pump not too far from a hot exhaust. Moreover, mechanical pump failure can lead to filling your sump with fuel, and trashing your oil and bearings, since the pump is block mounted. And they can also allow engine oil to leak too if the gasket is no good.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eOur fuel pump kit eliminates these ills, and has everything you need to mount the pump and go electric. We use a solid state pump without points and have never had one fail on the cars we prepare. We recommend mounting it at the back of the car on the passenger side bulkhead. This puts the pump out of the way and close to the tank.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo install this fuel pump on a negative ground car, take the red wire and install it on the keyed on power terminal on your fuse box. The pulleys are different thicknesses, new water pumps have different thicknesses of flanges than older cast iron ones, sometimes a spacer is needed to get the fan closer to the radiator… even the parts manual for the engines these came off of originally has two different options for bolts, either 1-1\/4” or 1-7\/8” in length. We have had these kits specially made for us to tighten up the flipping action. We have improved the hardware and tolerances, so although these may look similar to other kits on the market, they are not the same. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMany people prefer the superior engine access afforded with a forward-flip Bugeye nose. This configuration makes service a lot easier! In the photos attached, you can see a yellow Bugeye we converted with this kit.  It comes with everything you need to change your nose hinges to front frame mount, so your Bugeye nose can open forwards. The pieces mount on the front frame rails and are all made of heavy duty steel (instead of aluminum like other suppliers) so this kit will hold up over time. The kit comes black, but you can be paint it any color you like.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHold downs are important, especially if you hit anything with your car. We like the look of vintage leather straps as shown, available in black or brown. They do a nice job of keeping the nose shut, with a period appropriate look! One trade-off is your front bumper (if you still have one). There's no room for the nose to pivot over the bumper, so this modification requires that you unbolt your bumper from the frame and leave it off. Aluminum radiators just work better. They offer superior heat transfer. They are particularly useful if you've upgraded to a bigger engine, as more HP=more heat. We have sent more than 330 Sprites out into the world and many have been fitted with an aluminum radiator. It has been really nice to take cooling off the table as an issue for those customers - there is no such thing as too much cooling on a classic British car. You'll notice we are not huge fans of electric cooling fans. We've found these to be wonderful for slow-speed parades or in traffic, but in most cases they seem to block airflow at speed and REDUCE radiator efficiency.
